IEEE 1857.5

The 1857.5’ work focus on drafting the standard for regular low bit rate speech and audio coding tool sets for wireless and mobile speech and audio compression and decompression, it provides error masking ability, supports stereo effect, supports wideband audio quality and saves bandwidth for wireless transmission and mobile communication and memory space for storage.

1857.5 was approved as IEEE standard on December 05 2015. (December 07 2015)
1857.5 was received ballot and comments on 24-Jul-2015. (24-Jun-2015)
The P1857.5 PAR was authorized on Dec 11, 2013, and currently the standard is being drafted, and it is open to anyone who is interested in the technology we are standardizing. (March 11, 2014)
