Standard for Camera Perceptual Image Quality (CPIQ)

IEEE 1858-2023 published

the latest version of the 1858 standard has been published by IEEE.

This revision of the CPIQ standard builds on IEEE Std 1858-2016 by:

  • adding a perceptual measurement of auto exposure which produces a Just Noticeable Difference (JND) metric.
  • improving the texture metric by adding signal averaging to reduce noise.
  • making the lighting conditions more strictly defined.
  • updating SFR metric to bring charts in line with the ISO 12233 2017 standard.
  • addition of new video jitter calculation procedure.
  • addition of new motion blur calculation procedure.
  • addition of new video exposure and white balance convergence calculation procedure.
