About IEEE SA Subgroups
Working Groups (WGs) established by the IEEE SA may form subgroups (SGs) to facilitate standard development activities (e.g., document writing, technical discussions). The WG approves the scope of work of the SG, its expected activities, deliverables, membership criteria (if any), voting procedures, and duration—and can modify these aspects through votes held during WG meetings or through electronic balloting. While attendance at SG meetings does not count towards attaining or maintaining voting member status in the WG (per the Policies & Procedures of the WG), it is integral to determining the content of the standard.
Subgroups of the AI Ethics Oversight Working Group
As of the 19 March 2025 meeting, the AI Ethics Oversight WG has formed two (2) SGs.
