The ICICLE monthly community call is February 17th at 12 pm ET. We’re excited to have Bob Sottilare, Director of Learning Sciences at Soar Technology join us. He’ll be speaking on Adaptive Instructional Systems (AIS) and about the newly formed AIS Consortium, a 501.c.6 alliance under IEEE Industry Standards Technology Organization, to support the adoption and advancement of products that use artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to help people learn.

ICICLE has a Podcast!
We are thrilled to announce that ICICLE has started the IEEE Learning Engineering Podcast! The first episode explores What is Learning Engineering? People from many different disciplines including instructional design, data architecture, xAPI, online learning, corporate training, adaptive instructional systems have participated in ICICLE efforts and events. Empowering Teachers as Learning Engineers (Without Adding More Work) by Jessie Woolley-Wilson discusses that how by empowering teachers with skills and actionable data they can guide students in their learning and appropriately adapt lessons and instruction to move beyond what schooling could look like to what it should look like.
Our friends at IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies have a call for papers for a special issue on Designing Technologies to Support Professional and Workplace Learning for Situated Practice to showcase developments and innovations in, and advance the scientific discourse on issues specific to, designing technologies that support learning for work. Abstract submission is April 15th, 2021.
Two Learning Engineer positions are open! Edmentum has a position to apply learning sciences to their learning platforms with human-centered engineering design methods and data-informed decision making to support learners. The Learning Agency is looking for someone to lead their Learning Engineering work. We encourage you to apply.
