ICICLE Update and June 2025 Community Call with Andy Johnson, Specifications and Standards Manager for Advanced Distributed Learning and Chair, IEEE Standards Association Learning Technology Standards Committee (LTSC)\u00a0Learning Metadata Standard\u00a0and xAPI Profiles Standard Working Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICICLE monthly community call is June 18th at 12pm ET. Exploring how learning technology standards can be applied to components in the learning engineering process,\u00a0Andy Johnson<\/a>, Specifications and Standards Manager for Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative and Vice-Chair,\u00a0IEEE Standard Association Learning Technology Standards Committee<\/a>, will focus on how the\u00a0IEEE P2881\u00a0Learning Metadata\u00a0<\/a>standard will get learning activities identified, tagged, and online to describe learning experiences and ensure discoverability and context. Andy is a leader in developing learning technology standards. He is currently the Chair of IEEE P2881\u00a0Learning Metadata Working Group<\/a>\u00a0and Chair of IEEE P9274.2.1\u00a0xAPI Profiles Working Group<\/a>, author of\u00a0Total Learning Architecture Standards Digital Learning Acquisition Techniques<\/a>\u00a0and one of the original developers of\u00a0SCORM.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carnegie Mellon University<\/a>‘s\u00a0Open Learning Initiative<\/a>\u00a0is holding a\u00a0Learning Engineering Catalyst,<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0a monthly forum dedicated to addressing the critical gap between contemporary research in learning sciences and practical online course design. The next forum is Tuesday, June 24th at 1pm ET.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Online Learning Summit\u00a0<\/a>at\u00a0University of Leeds<\/a>\u00a0on July 10th-11th will explore core themes and emerging areas of discussion in the online learning sector and beyond. The “Provocation: Learning Engineering as Engine of Change<\/strong>” on July 10th will be talking all things Learning Engineering with Jim Goodell, diving into what this is, how it complements approaches to learning design, and applying it to solve a challenge.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
