\n5. Discussion of current draft standard
\n===================================
\nWade said he would talk with Stephanie White at Maxar to determine
\nwhat changes they hace made to SICD, or want to make, so that we can
\ntry to be consistent with their best practices.<\/p>\n
We then discussed possible encoding strategies:
\nXML: most felt it was too old and cumbersome
\nJSON: nice, coupled with an external file for the image data
\nHDF5: nice, with attributes for the metadata, and datasets for the
\n image data
\nNITF: too old and cumbersome
\nI think there was agreement that JSON and HDF5 were the top
\ncontenders.<\/p>\n
Need to better understand what an iso19123 coverage is and how\/if we
\nwant to be compatible with it<\/p>\n
Grid vs. Polynomial:
\nMarc preferes grids
\nWade prefers polynomials
\nBoth prefer one or the other, not a choice by the provider.<\/p>\n
Marc:
\n there are many cases where polynomials are not accurate enough:
\n antenna pattern sidelobes, for example
\n high-order polynomials have problems that make them not desirable<\/p>\n
Wade:
\n prefer polynomials since they are defined everywhere, no need to
\n interpolate
\n also provides an obvious way to get derivatives<\/p>\n
Marc:
\n the metadata should provide guidance on how to use the grid
\n points along with an interpolation equation\/strategy.
\n This provides a way to have it defined everywhere, with
\n derivatives.
\n Would need to have some kind of error measure(s) associated with
\n each of these, polynmonal or grid. including the derivatives<\/p>\n
Leland:
\n needs to come up with a list of paramaters in the current SICD
\n std that may be affected by this<\/p>\n
what about the need for multi-burst, multi-polarization, multi-band
\ndatasets?
\nright now sicd deals with just 1 collect.
\nIs it possible to generalize and come up with a std that includes all
\nof these?
\nSimply just duplicate the metadata for each of the separate image-data
\ndatasets?
\nperhaps have a hierarchy, “top” gives data related to the ensemble,
\nseparate parts provide metadata that is different than that given in
\nthe “top”.<\/p>\n
