Title: Point-of-Care Devices
Scope: The 11073 Point-of-Care Devices (PoCD) WG develops and promotes IEEE standards addressing the interoperability of medical devices, to manage, exchange and evaluate data between devices, systems, data sources and repositories ensuring safety, effectiveness, security, privacy, trustworthiness and transparency in healthcare and public health.
The 11073 Point-of-Care Devices (PoCD) WG develops and maintains the following standards:

The PoCD WG has close collaboration with standard development organizations such as ISO, IHE and HL7. The IEEE 11073-PoCD standards are adopted by ISO TC215 as ISO international standards via the IEEE-ISO PSDO agreement, and are further adopted by CEN as EU standards. Most of them are adopted by FDA as FDA Recognized Consensus Standards.

The PoCD WG has the following subgroups:
- The IDCO Subgroup creates nomenclature for representing data from implantable devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators, devices for cardiac resynchronization therapy, and implantable cardiac monitors (e.g., published standard 11073-10103). | Chair: Craig Reister, [email protected].
- The RTM Subgroup develops, defines and maintains a standardized nomenclature for communication of data for point-of-care and personal health medical devices. (e.g., published standard 11073-10101, 11073-10201). | Chair: Paul Schluter, [email protected].
- The SDC Subgroup develops the IEEE 11073 Service-oriented Device Connectivity (SDC) family of standards. Examples include the published SDC Core Standards ISO/IEEE 11073-20702, ISO/IEEE 11073-10207 and ISO/IEEE 11073-20701, the published SDC Participant Key Purposes (PKP) standards ISO/IEEE 11073-10700 and ISO/IEEE 11073-10701, and the draft SDC PKP standards listed below. | Chair: Martin Kasparick, [email protected].
- Alert PKP IEEE SA – P11073-10702 (pre-balloting) | Project lead: Vicente Antunes, Vitor, [email protected].
- External Control PKP IEEE SA – P11073-10703 (pre-balloting) | Project lead: Köny, Marcus, [email protected].
- The temporary Device Interoperability Standards Conformity Test Reports (DISCTR) Study Group develops a Project Authorization Request (PAR) on recommendations for medical device interoperability test summaries/reports (content, format, cases, levels of interoperability, traceability/risks, consistency, etc.). The group considers consistent and reliable summaries and reports for different levels of interoperability (semantic, structural, pragmatic, etc.) including specific use cases, real world clinical scenarios for these test (verification/validation) reports such as ventilators, cardiac diagnostic data, implantable cardiac devices, dialysis, monitors, alerts exchanges, external controls, personal health devices specializations, etc. | Co-Chair: Konstantinos Makrodimitris, [email protected] | Co-Chair: Ken Fuchs, [email protected] | Secretary: Javier Espina, [email protected].
