IEEE 1159.3-2019 Recommended Practice for Power Quality Data Interchange Format (PQDIF) was published in May 2019. This is an IEEE recommended practice for exchanging data between power quality monitors and software systems. PQDIF-2019 has an associated corrigendum.

IEEE 1159.3-2025 was published in July 2025 by IEEE Standards Association Standards Board (SASB). The new edition includes normative and informative references to an IEEE SA Open Source Project.

In September 2025, the IEEE Power & Energy Society’s Transmission & Distribution Committee approved a project to revise IEEE 1159.3-2025, which will be considered in October 2025 by IEEE SASB. If approved, then a kick-off working group meeting is expected at the IEEE PES Joint Technical Committee Meeting.
