IEEE P3365 Test and Evaluation of on-board Lithium-based Batteries for Electric Vehicle (EV) Propulsion

Title: Guide for Test and Evaluation of on-board Lithium-based Batteries for Electric Vehicle (EV) Propulsion

Scope: This guide provides an approach for testing and evaluation of on-board Lithium propulsion batteries in EVs during the routine charging and discharging process. It includes guidance for test conditions, procedures, and evaluation of results.

Purpose: With increasing EV use, the demand for rapid testing and evaluation of battery status without disassembling the batteries is emerging as an urgent issue. This guide specifies a performance index that includes the information that EV owners are concerned about, simplifies testing procedures and provides objective, third-party evaluation results. It helps users to evaluate the performance of on-board batteries and discover the batteries’ potential safety risks as well.
