Title: Recommended Practice for Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Enabled Performance and Safety Requirements in Police Pursuit Vehicles

Standards Committee: IEEE Vehicular Technology Society/Automated Vehicles Standards Committee (VT/AVSC)

Scope: This recommended practice defines the minimum performance, safety, and interoperability requirements for police pursuit and law enforcement vehicles, including: – Vehicle dynamics under high-speed pursuit conditions; – Artificial-Intelligence (AI)-enabled decision support systems for pursuit management; – Integration of embedded systems for real-time diagnostics and predictive maintenance; – Compatibility with existing original equipment manufacturer (OEM) safety systems and law enforcement equipment – Guidelines for ethical use of autonomous and semi-autonomous features in pursuit scenarios.

Stakeholders for the Standard:

– Law Enforcement Agencies.
– Original Equipment Manufacturers and Tier-1 Suppliers (e.g., GM, Ford, Stellantis)
– IEEE Technical Societies (e.g., VTS, IMS, ITSS)
– Government Bodies (e.g., NHTSA, DOT)
– Academic and Research Institutions (especially those focused on AI and embedded systems)
– Public Safety Technology Vendors
