About the Activity

Cybersecurity is a huge problem and is poised to keep increasing unless we take action. The program has identified 3 causes behind cybersecurity issues that primarily lead to the sprawl of information and a lack of control.

These causes are – (1) Information/data gets collected and stored in large databases, which in turn gets hacked, (2) The information/data is further shared or sold to other parties, where the originator does not have any control over it. This leads to the creation of more repositories, which are again hacked (3). We do not know who or what we are interacting with. These are a result of data capture, analysis, and the creation of methods to scam people, such as phishing emails, messages, and deepfakes.

The program has made a call to rethink & proposed the following 5 principles. There is active work associated with these principles. We encourage anyone interested in this topic to join the activity by filling out the Cyber Security for Next Generation Connectivity Systems interest form.
