IEEE Std 1547.3-2007 (Revision in Progress)

Guide for Monitoring, Information Exchange, and Control of Distributed Resources Interconnected with Electric Power Systems

General

This guide is intended to facilitate the interoperability of distributed resources (DR) and help DR project stakeholders implement monitoring, information exchange, and control (MIC) to support the technical and business operations of DR and transactions among the stakeholders. The focus is on MIC between DR controllers and stakeholder entities with direct communication interactions. This guide incorporates information modeling, use case approaches, and a proforma information exchange template and introduces the concept of an information exchange interface. The concepts and approaches are compatible with historical approaches to establishing and satisfying MIC needs.

Scope

This document provides guidelines for monitoring, information exchange, and control for distributed resources (DR) interconnected with electric power systems (EPS).

Purpose

This document facilitates the interoperability of one or more distributed resources interconnected with electric power systems. It describes functionality, parameters and methodologies for monitoring, information exchange and control for the interconnected distributed resources with or associated with electric power systems. Distributed resources include systems in the areas of fuel cells, photovoltaics, wind turbines, microturbines, other distributed generators, and distributed energy storage systems.

Updates

IEEE 1547.3-2007 is currently under revision. The work is in progress as IEEE P1547.3:

IEEE P1547.3- Guide for Cybersecurity of Distributed Energy Resources Interconnected with Electric Power Systems

Scope

This document provides guidelines for Cybersecurity of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) interconnection with Electric Power Systems (EPS).

Purpose

This document provides guidelines for cybersecurity for one or more distributed energy resources that are interconnected with electric power system. DER include systems in the areas of fuel cells, photovoltaics, wind turbines, microturbines, other distributed energy sources, and distributed energy storage systems interconnected to EPSs at typical primary or secondary distribution voltage levels.
