IEEE Planet Positive 2030 highlights critical issues and actions individuals, organizations, and communities can take to realize positive benefits from working toward achieving a global flourishing environment.
To support this vision, the Impact Assessment Framework driving the work of our Accountable Sustainability by Design Committee will complement the Strong Sustainability by Design compendium and will be based on UN SDGs, ESGs and/or other available metrics/impact assessment tools (environmental, infrastructure, climate) and reporting systems/templates.
Transparency and Accountability are the hallmarks of 2024, evidenced by the increased demand for emissions global reporting and metrics assessments (i.e., EU, SEC, CSRD, ISSB, TCFD, TNFD, SBTi, greenhouse gas protocols), and a proliferation of assessment tools designed to meet these standards.
The IEEE Planet Positive 2030 Initiative is launching this new accountability focused ecosystem and Committee to unify and support communities in becoming flourishing centers that advance people, the planet, and create new prosperity.
Sample work being considered by the Accountable Sustainability by Design Committee for the Impact Assessment Framework currently in development:
As part of the overall Impact Assessment Framework, IEEE is offering educational resources, regional IEEE Planet Positive 2030 Community initiatives, Standards and Standards Working Groups and other activities to research and deliver best practices and ongoing guidelines for Sustainability and Human Well-Being: a healthy planetary biosphere for the long term.
You are invited to participate by expressing your interest in joining the Accountable Sustainability by Design Committee.
Planet Positive 2030 has created the following steps anyone can take right now to
inspire regenerative sustainability and inspire action within your organization:
As 2024 is the year both the EU and the SEC in the US will be requiring reporting around
emissions and other elements outlined in the BSAT
Assessment
Designed to directly address regulatory and emissions issues around Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, you’ll learn why taking 60-90 minutes today to fill out the BSAT can also immediately help you learn how your existing planned efforts align to UN SDGs as well as other ESG / regulatory frameworks.
