The Communities Committee as part of IEEE Planet Positive 2030 is designed as an Incubator/Accelerator Program to provide an opportunity for long-term growth between participating.
Communities (the city of Miami is our first Pilot “Community”launching in early 2024) and local academic, business, and policy experts along with local citizens and IEEE volunteer experts.
Utilizing our Compendium document, Strong Sustainability by Design, as a primary resource along with IEEE volunteers from around the world, the Communities Program will create templates for community building that will support these communities in their efforts to construct sustainability roadmaps – in an accelerated fashion – to achieve their sustainability and climate change related
Goals in alignment with the goals and vision of IEEE Planet Positive 2030.
As IEEE Planet Positive 2030 was created by the IEEE Standards Association, a key goal of the Communities Program is to identify proposals for Standards projects and related opportunities focused on sustainability and climate change while helping to deepen the relevance of existing Standards Projects by including local business leaders, policymakers, and citizens of specific global regions (e.g., Miami) to provide deep contextual relevance for standards to increase the potential of their adoption, use, and scale.
Our longer term goal is to build a network of IEEE Planet Positive 2030 Communities (beginning with Miami) supporting parts of the greater IEEE organization and for volunteers and communities globally to benefit from actionable standards, policy, experts, and actions leading to “Planet Positivity” by 2030 and beyond.
