Autonomous Driving Working Group (VT/ITS/ADWG)

Welcome to the IEEE Autonomous Driving Working Group. This group develops standards for Autonomous Driving-related technologies, including but not limited to the training and validation of Autonomous Driving Systems as well as architectural designs.

IEEE ADWG overview

The on-going efforts within the group are:

Title: IEEE P3344 Standard for Scenario Representation for Autonomous Driving

Status: Active PAR

Scope: This standard specifies a representation of traffic scenarios for the training and validation of autonomous driving (AD) systems. The forms and features of this representation are described. The functions developed with such representation support a range of applications such as scenario extraction from road-test data, traffic simulations with naturalistic agent behavior, scenario generalization and optimization, and off-road scenario modeling.

Title: IEEE P3412 Standard for Autonomous Driving Architecture (ADA)

Status: Active PAR

Scope: This standard defines a unified reference architecture denoted as Autonomous Driving Architecture (ADA). This architecture orchestrates all platform layers and coordinates signals, data, activities, and processes in the vehicle, edge and cloud infrastructure. Furthermore, the standard defines interfaces and models, as well as schemes for ADA validation, verification, and compliance assessment.

Call for paritcipation and contribution

IEEE ADWG Whitepapers:

IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) invites you to participate in two whitepapers authored by the ADWG (Autonomous Driving Working Group).

1. Simulation, testing, validation and verification of Autonomous Driving

This whitepaper targets to address the issues of simulation, testing, validation and verification (STVV) in conjunction with the full lifecycle of Autonomous Driving, which reviews the challenges, reviews current status and explores the E2E solution and process of AD STVV.

2. Autonomous Driving Architecture (ADA) – enabling intelligent, automated & connected vehicles and transportation

This whitepaper aims to discuss and define a high level overarching architecture of autonomous driving for enabling the intelligent, automated and connected vehicles and transportation industries. The key design principles and functions will be addressed with some typical use cases.

Starting date: Mid Oct, 2023

Completion date: End Dec, 2023

Contact:

If you are interested in participating in whitepapers, please contact the Autonomous Driving Working Group Chair, Dong Sun, at [email protected] and/or the IEEE SA Program Manager, Soo Kim, at [email protected].

Final call for contribution and review of IEEE SA ADWG Whitepappers

Dear All,

As it is getting to the final stage of two ADWG whitepapers, here is the deadline of action items:
