ICICLE November 2020 Community Call with Janet Koloder, Professor of the Practice and Co-Director, M.A. Program in Learning Engineering, Boston College Lynch School

The ICICLE monthly community call is November 18th at 12 pm ET. We’re excited to have Janet Koloder, Professor of the Practice and Co-Director, M.A. Program in Learning Engineering, Boston College Lynch School, share her experiences in directing the M.A. Program in Learning Engineering. Join us and hear about designing a program to prepare students in learning engineering.

We’ll be meeting via Webex (See details below with meeting code and password). The call is scheduled for one hour’s length. Full agenda will be posted here.

Learning Engineering updates and connections
We have two new case studies on learning engineering. At October’s community meeting Rachel Van Campenhout shared a case study using learning engineering for adaptive activities. Using the ICICLE Learning Engineering Process Model, Aaron Kessler with Lauren Totino wrote a case study, Operationalizing the Learning Engineering Process for Online Training, for a project within the MIT Open Learning Residential team.

A session about on Learning Engineering Teams for Healthcare Education was presented by Dina Kurzweil at the Association for Educational Technologies and Communities (AECT) convention.

Bror Saxberg answered a few questions on learning engineering, A Learning Engineer’s Angle on Learning Analytics, in a post on Nexus, a new blog from SoLAR (The Society for Learning Analytics Research). EdSurge has an ongoing series on learning engineering, Better, Faster, Stronger: How Learning Engineering Aims to Transform Education.

SIGs
We welcome everyone’s participation in the SIGs.

The Competencies, Curriculum, and Credentials SIG is relaunching and starting up work on compiling learning engineering related competencies.  Meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, December 1st at 11am ET at this meeting link.

The Corporate MIG (market interest group) is gathering examples and connecting people through a Learning Engineering for Personalized Learning At Scale campaign. Adaptive Instructional Systems was the topic of the October 2020 meeting with adaptive learning development and achievement at Boeing being presented.  Links to the recording and documentation are in the meeting notes. Please contact Jessie Chuang for more information.

The Design SIG is working on building examples and extensions of ICICLE’s Learning Engineering Process Model. The SIG meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 2 pm ET. The next meeting is Tuesday, November 24th. Meeting link is in the Agenda and Meeting Notes.

The Tools SIG is preparing an instrumentation brief to discuss what is it and how to do it. The next meeting is Thursday, December 3rd at 2 pm ET. The meeting link is in the Agenda and Meeting Notes.

Join the community meeting on November 18th for a conversation with Janet Koloder on M.A. Program in Learning Engineering, Boston College Lynch School and educating students on learning engineering.
