ICICLE January 2021 Community Call with Erin Czerwinski, Product and Community Manager, Simon Initiative, Carnegie Mellon University

The ICICLE monthly community call is January 27th at 12 pm ET. We’re excited to have Erin Czerwinski, Product and Community Manager, Simon InitiativeCarnegie Mellon University.  She will share with us approaches and solutions that the Simon Initiative has developed using an interdisciplinary, learning engineering ecosystem.

Learning Engineering updates
Two open Learning Engineer positions! Edmentum and The Learning Agency are hiring learning engineers. We encourage you to apply.

In Design Recommendations for Intelligent Tutoring Systems, Volume 8Jim Goodell and Bridget E. Thomas wrote a chapter, A Learning Engineering Approach To Data Visualization, for the intelligent tutoring system context.

The  Learning Ideas Conference‘s track Adaptive Learning via Interactive, Collaborative and Emotional Approaches (ALICE) is seeking proposals.  ALICE aims to provide a forum for innovations in learning engineering that have been designed to improve learners’ engagement and teachers’ experiences. Proposals are accepted through February 15th.

SIGs
We welcome everyone’s participation in the SIGs.

The Competencies, Curriculum, and Credentials SIG is compiling learning engineering related competencies.  The next meeting is scheduled on Friday, February 12th at 2pm ET.  Meeting link is in SIG notes.

The Corporate MIG (market interest group) connects groups interested in or applying learning engineering.  Links to recordings and documentation are in the meeting notes. Please contact Jessie Chuang for more information. The Design SIG is sharing experiences and examples of the application of ICICLE’s Learning Engineering Process Model.  The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23th at 2 pm. The Tools SIG is preparing a brief to discuss what instrumentation is and how to do it. The next meeting is Thursday, January 28th at 2 pm ET. Meeting link is in the Agenda and Meeting Notes.
