ICICLE March 2022 Community Call with Kevin Gluck, Chief Scientist, Resilient Cognitive Solutions
The ICICLE monthly community call is March 16th at 12pm ET. We’re excited to have Kevin Gluck, a cognitive scientist whose career has repeatedly intersected with learning sciences and technologies. He is the Chief Scientist at Resilient Cognitive Solutions, exploring connections and opportunities between cognitive systems engineering and related fields including learning engineering. He has had years of experience doing academic research on computational cognitive modeling and intelligent tutoring systems, and at the Air Force Research Laboratory he lead a team dedicated to predictive mathematical modeling of human memory dynamics for individualized training applications and was the core research area lead on personalized learning and readiness sciences.
We’ll be meeting via Webex (See details below with meeting code and password). The call is scheduled for one hour’s length. Full agenda will be posted here.
Recent discussions and posts about what learning engineering is and what learning engineers do
Do you ever get asked by others “how is learning engineering different from what we already do'”? In What Parts of Learning Engineering Can Help You Level Up?Jim Goodell writes that instead of asking how it is different, it may be more valuable to ask “is there any part learning engineering that we could adopt to move our current practice to the next level?”
The Learning Agency has a video series, Introduction to Learning Engineering, about applying a learning engineering perspective. Videos include the Practice of Learning Engineering, the Challenges of Learning Engineering, an Overview of Learning Engineering, and three case studies.
MIT Integrated Learning Initiative has a Q&A with Lauren Totino, a Learning Engineer in MIT Open Learning, about ‘what exactly is a learning engineer? and ‘how does data analysis drive MIT’s education effectiveness?’
Special and Market Interest Group Work
