ICICLE May 2022 Community Call with InnovateEDU on Blueprint for Inclusive Research and Development in Education
The ICICLE monthly community call is May 18th at 12pm ET. We’re thrilled to have Susmita Pratihast, Project Director, Shalaka Damle, Project Associate, and Erin Mote, Co-Founder and Executive Director, of InnovateEDU present the Blueprint for Inclusive Research and Development in Education (BIRD-E) developed by InnovateEDU. The Blueprint is an open-source framework that aims to modernize education research through a common, research-based data language to bridge the divide between research and practice in the K-12 data ecosystem. The common data language synchronizes research definitions, benchmarks, and metrics for evidence-supported interventions that impact student outcomes.
The goal of the framework is to facilitate engagement of all types of stakeholders in inclusive, accessible, and robust generation and use of research. Join the community call discussion on how the learning engineering process can be applied in education research.
We’ll be meeting via Webex (See details below with meeting code and password). The call is scheduled for one hour’s length. Full agenda will be posted here.
ICICLE Conference on Learning Engineering 26-28 July 2022, MIT Campus, Boston, MA USA
Registration for the in-person 2022 ICICLE Conference on Learning Engineering is now open! The Conference is 26th-28th July 2022 onsite only at the Samberg Conference Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, USA.
The conference will launch Learning Engineering Toolkit, a new book on learning engineering. Interactive sessions will focus on themes in the book around learning sciences, human-centered design, engineering, instrumentation, ethics, analytics, motivation and much more.
As the number of participants at this in-person only conference is limited, we expect the conference to sell out. The early registration rate ends June 1st. Register today to connect with learning professionals in-person around learning engineering practices! You don’t want to miss it!
Talking about Learning Engineering
Bror Saxberg, founder of the recently launched learning engineering consulting firm LearningForge, LLC, and was previously the Vice President of Learning Science at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, spoke at Next Level Lab’s Distinguished Speaker Series, Harvard Graduate School of Education on Learning Engineering: The Art of Applying Learning Science to Real-World Training which explored the impact learning science, motivation, and understanding expertise has on learning and teaching to increase outcomes from professional training and development.
On Share Whatcha Learned: Journeys in Instructional Design, Kristin Torrence, Head of Learning Engineering at Talespin, shares what she’s been learning and practicing about learning engineering.
