ICICLE March 20th 2024 Community Call is a Conversation on the State of Learning Engineering: Then and Now
The ICICLE monthly community call is March 20th at 12pm ET. This month’s conversation will be the “State of Learning Engineering: Then and Now.” Several members of the ICICLE community will talk about the background and context of learning engineering “then” to tell the story, observations, and examples of learning engineering “now” as we consider learning engineering of the future. You’re learn how ICICLE started, examples of why learning engineering, challenges in promoting learning engineering leading to what we understand now. We’ll ask for your participation in what current patterns and trends you are aware of to consider learning engineering of the future and how to prepare for it. Join this fun, exploratory call with other ICICLEists.
We’ll be meeting via Webex for the community call. (See details below with meeting code and password.) It is scheduled for one hour’s length. Full agenda will be posted here.
ICICLE 2024 Learning Engineering Conference, July 22-24, 2024, ASU
Thanks to everyone who submitted a proposals for the ICICLE 2024 Learning Engineering Conference, “Solving for Complexity at Scale” organized in conjunction with ASU Learning Engineering Institute. We received more than double the number of submissions that we received last year! What incredible experiences you have had in learning engineering. We can’t wait for you to share them with the community in July. We’ll be sending out notifications mid-April. Information about registration, contributions and logistics coming soon. Put the dates of the conference July 22nd-24th in your calendar!
What tools do you use in your learning engineering solutions?
The ICICLE Tools SIG would like to learn which tools that you use as part of the learning engineering process. We know that there is an abundance of tools that ICICLE community engages with to support learning engineering in practice. Share a tool that you are using or want to learn more about in Tools for Learning Engineering Survey. (It will take less than five minutes.) It could be any technology, from paper-and-pencil to large language models. Tools shared thus far include the Learning Design Principles, xACTION, and Canvas Catalog. The list will be available to the community and assist you in the future to identify tools in supporting solutions to your challenges and problems. Fill out the Tools for Learning Engineering Survey with your favorite tool!
Learning Engineering Internships
Be part of a learning engineering team with these internships:
- Edmentum seeks a Learning Engineering Research Intern who will contribute to the application of learning science processes on Edmentum’s online education platforms, using human-centered engineering design methods and data-informed decision making to support learners and their development. Work on applying the learning engineering definition in real-world context!
- The Digital Harbor Foundation is looking for a Learning Engineer Intern to support the work of the Learning Engineering Virtual Institute (LEVI) teams and collaborate with the university research labs and private organizations that are part of the institute to advance the state-of-the-art in educational technology.
Special and Market Interest Group Work
Special Interest Groups and Market Interest Groups is where much of the work in ICICLE happens. The groups develop resources and document experiences for the learning engineering community. Participate in one, two or all of them.
Please check SIG/MIG page for general information and the calendar and website for updates to meeting days/times. (Times are in Eastern Time.)
We look forward to seeing you at our March 20th community call to discuss the “State of Learning Engineering: Then and Now.” The next community call is April 17, 2024.
